I am so proud to be turning my dream into reality as of January 2019 when I will be launching my very own teaching workshop named Workshop 925.
I started teaching at The Surrey Jewellery School and at The West End Centre over 4 and a half years ago. Along the way, I have been lucky enough to meet some amazingly talented students, fellow tutors, and lovely enthusiastic venue staff that have made my teaching journey nothing but a pleasure.
I initially got into teaching as the jewellery sole trader lifestyle can be quite isolating when you find yourself working alone day to day. I thought I would run a class here and there to get out and meet like-minded people and teach the skills which have been passed down to me. Since then I have taken on more classes and my enthusiasm for teaching and for jewellery making has done nothing but grown. I find myself constantly learning too, picking up tricks, tips and trying completely new techniques which I would never usually try within my own work. I couldn’t enjoy it more.
The new workshop is going to be located at Unit F9 at The Mayford Centre. I am very lucky to be surrounded by some incredibly talented and supportive fellow tutors which are going to join me at Workshop 925, running lots of amazing classes focusing on different techniques and specialisms. I am also very lucky to be working with Lawson from Paskell Tools who is going to be decking out the workshop with some pretty incredible brand new tools for us to create our lovely silver jewellery.
I am currently working very hard to create the new Workshop 925 website and hope to launch early January with all our class listings. In the meantime I am very much looking forward to moving into our new space in the new year and transforming the unit into an amazing silversmithing venue for all fellow jewellery addicts.
